Raising self-esteem

To effectively raise self esteem means to concentrate on two major parts of your life, these two ingredients are well being and confidence. The well being part comes from getting your needs met, and confidence comes from acting on courage to do the things you know you should be doing but daren’t step out of your comfort zone. I may write a more indepth article on what this means but for the time being I thought I’d shout out a little reminder that most people already know, but may have forgotten.

It’s common knowledge that going to the gym, eating a good diet and doing activities that help develop you mentally and physically, all aim towards a healthier happy lifestyle, but there are also physchological benefits too. All of these things have a massive impact on your self-worth. Even visualisation and positive thinking won’t alleviate low self esteem if you fail to stick to a daily schedule of exercise, nutritious breakfasts, new experiences and regular challenges. It would be like trying to trick your brain into thinking your living a healthy lifestyle even though your aware you don’t, your brain simply won’t allow it.

To have a core belief of high value  you MUST be actively doing the things in your life that will allow you to believe you ARE of high value. If you take pride in your appearance (this includes personal hygiene and keeping up to date with what’s fashionable) and working out at the gym while at the very least drinking lots of water and eating plenty of fruit and vegetables, then when it comes time to look in the mirror and tell yourself you look good, you’ll have every reason to believe it, because you know you put the effort in. Remember, this is about looking and feeling good for yourself, it should never be to please anyone else.

Learn something new, have at least 20 minutes of exercise, accomplish something, take a class, eat 5 portions of fruit and veg, do at least one thing that scares you, drink 8 glasses of water, if your not doing any of those things right now, aim to do AT LEAST FOUR of these things on a daily basis and you will undoubtedly start to feel better about yourself. Once you are smiling, the world will smile with you.
