I feel like Doc Brown in Back To The future 3 writing a letter to my future readers who might just by chance come back to this blog. As you can see I’ve been living comfortably here in Prague for the last year and a bit. Things have differed a little, my writing style, me as a person, less travelling, a bit of comfort zone living, but it’s all about to change, don’t worry.
Part of that time has been spent writing a book (more on that at a later date) so for now let’s just call it a sabbatical, or something like that anyway.
I’ve preferred living here than Scandinavia, both Helsinki and Stockholm are way more expensive, and are freezing cold during winter, practically live in darkness for several months of the year, so that was another dealbreaker. Prague is good, no wind, hardly any rain, warm summers and bearable winters. Totally acceptable. And much cheaper than living in Scandinavia OR Uk too. Also the whole place is just so pretty.

I’ve made friends here, they’re a diverse bunch from all over over the world, we probably look like The Bash Street Kids if they were to grow up into real live adults, but they’re cool and we have stuff in common so it’s all good.
I’ve moved around a bit since I first arrived, but I still cannot pick where my most favourite part of the city is to live. I mean, I like Zizkov even though it has this bad reputation, but living in Letna or Florenc is closer to the city centre so I guess it comes down to personal preference.
I don’t bother driving when I’m here, there seems little point because using the trams and subway is so cheap, you can get almost anywhere in the city for the equivelient of 70p, you can’t even buy a mars bar in England for that price. Not that I eat mars bars. Although I do miss Galaxy Minstrels, (they don’t sell them here) they last so much longer than ordinary chocolate because they have the hardened shell on the outside that you can suck on first and it melts everything inside so it leaks out like a chocolate river bursting its banks when the shell begins to crack. What Prague lacks in galaxy chocolate it makes up for with Milka cholcolate instead. Am I talking to much about chocolate? Did I ever mention chocolate is maybe my favourite food? Can you call it a food? If you were starving to death and someone gave you a daim bar surely it could save your life? I eat healthy the rest the time though. Lots of broccoli and nuts (not together, that would be grosse), although it is hard to find organic broccoli in Prague. But I’m sure that wouldn’t put you off coming here, and so it shouldn’t. Everyone should visit, even if only to see the old town square that looks straight out of a fairytale, then you can watch that old astronomical clock that I’ve seen a hundred times now but still arouses my attention every time I pass it. Justify the cost of your flight tickets by thinking of the money you’ll save on hotels and food being less expensive here. That’s what I would do.
